GOA - Prisons & Criminal Justice Systems

Grade: 95% (A+)

In this course, I gained an in-depth understanding of legal rules and institutions in the United States and other countries that determine incarceration decisions. I explored multiple stages within the U.S. criminal justice system, including arrest, prosecution, trial, sentencing, and imprisonment. I engaged with topics like mass incarceration, policing practices, prosecutor reform, and the role of AI in sentencing. Through research, legal reasoning, and communication with specialized audiences, I developed arguments tailored for specific purposes and situations. I collaborated with peers on various projects, including an advocacy-based project and the Catalyst Exhibition, where I presented my findings on mass incarceration and proposed solutions to reduce recidivism.
